by Jeffry Colman -
A proximity key (also named Smart Key, Keyless Go, Push Button Start.Keyless Access.Keyless Entry or Push-to-Start) is a computerized device that enables a automatic door access and engine igniting in your vehicle.
When owner is within the proper frequency range, the smart key transmit combination of audio and infrared waves with your immobilization system to unlock and lock doors and even to crank the car engine having the key in the pocket.
30 years ago, Mercedes-Benz was the first to implement this platform in the automotive industry.
Currently, vehicle owners can take advantage of proximity keys and push-to-start ignition on majority of vehicle models and enjoy functionality like power windows, mirror adjustment, automatic door unlocking and locking, alarm and many more.
